A very nice mid-February Sunday is in progress this afternoon.

Highs are warming into the 60s across the entire area. A few high clouds are streaming across the area, but they are doing little to filter the sun.

Lows tonight will be in the 30s over the northeast part of the state, but 40s will prevail along and southwest of the US-78/280 corridor.

Tomorrow promises to be even better, although showers will return to the forecast. Get used to them. They will be in the forecast through much of the week ahead. A parade of disturbances will traverse the country over the next several days in a fast upper level flow. This will lead to several rounds of showers, and as the disturbances get stronger, the chance of storms by late in the week. Timing these systems is difficult, so let’s give it a shot.

MONDAY: A few scattered showers entering western sections during the morning, with a concentrated line of showers pushing into the state around 3 p.m. and reaching I-59 by dark. The showers will weaken during the evening hours.

TUESDAY: A few showers will hang around as the cold front delivering the Monday night showers pulls back north.

WEDNESDAY: The front waffles across the area, producing a few showers.

THURSDAY: Probably dry ahead of the main front, but warm and windy. Showers and storms will enter the state during the late night hours, progressing southeast. There will be some severe weather to our northwest and likely into Alabama overnight.

FRIDAY: Showers and storms will be ongoing Friday.

SATURDAY: Difference in the model output here. The GFS Is dry. The European keeps rain in the forecast.
