Final Update at 1:30 am

| July 22, 2008 @ 1:28 am | 4 Replies

It is past the witching hour and everybody in the world is asleep except me. Gotta get up at 5 am so I need to hit the sack (or is hit the hay?)

It looked for a long while that the thunderstorms would never go to bed or even take a nap.
But finally, they have weakened greatly, so this should be our final update unless the storms get nervous and restless again.

As we shut our eyes, here is the location of some of the remaining storms at 1:30 am.:

* East edge of Jefferson County, now just a small storm between Irondale and Leeds
* West Talladega County near Childersburg
* NE Clay County
* NW Coosa County

A few of them still producing moderate to briefly heavy rain and they are moving very little. They will simply rain themselves out.

The storms dumped 1.08 inches of rain in NE Trussville.

3340 Skywatcher Matt Padgett in Moody reported only 0.10. However, Moody has had good rain luck this year. Their 2008 total so far stands at 36 inches!

As a result, Matt reports a very good year of the tomato. He has grown very large tomatoes and they melt in your mouth. He insists that one is the size of a softball and still on the vine. Bill, in Vigo, would like to see that one!

Good night, but we will still be around in case something else erupts. Life goes on through storms and drought…
