RADAR CHECK: Alabama is relatively quiet early this morning with very little rain, but rain is rather widespread over much of Mississippi. This is rain is the result of a vigorous short wave over Louisiana and Arkansas, and this wave will bring rain to most of Alabama this afternoon and tonight.

Looks like our main window for rain will come from about 10:00 noon today through 3:00 a.m. tomorrow, although the high resolution NAM model hints there could be a little lingering light rain over Northeast Alabama through daybreak tomorrow. Rain amounts should be around 1/2 inch for most communities.

Today will be colder as dynamic cooling from the strong short wave will keep temperatures generally in the 40s this afternoon.

TOMORROW AND THE WEEKEND: Lingering clouds tomorrow morning should give way to afternoon sunshine; the high will be in the low 60s. Then, the weekend looks excellent with a good supply of sunshine Saturday and Sunday. We warm to near 70 degrees Saturday afternoon; Sunday will be just slightly cooler with a high in the mid to upper 60s.

NEXT WEEK: Very mild, dry weather is the story Monday and Tuesday. Partly to mostly sunny days with a high in the mid 70s. Then, a disturbance will bring the next chance of showers Wednesday. We have seen varying solutions concerning the strength of this wave; for now we will just mention a chance of showers Wednesday and we can fine tune the forecast as it gets closer. Some evidence colder air will return to Alabama toward the end of next week.
