HEATING UP: Lots of sunshine across Alabama today with temperatures generally in the mid 80s. We project a high at 90 degrees tomorrow and Friday… it will be our first 90 degree heat since September 12 of last year. A strong upper ridge will keep most of the state rain-free, although a few isolated showers are possible near the northeast corner of Alabama Friday afternoon.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: No real change; highs will stay very close to 90 degrees Saturday through Monday, and most of Alabama will be dry. We can’t rule out a brief afternoon shower or storm Sunday and Monday, but the chance of any one spot getting wet is very small. Days will be partly to mostly sunny, and nights will be mostly fair.

Typical early summer weather is likely on into the middle of next week; very warm and humid with some risk of widely scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

OUT WEST: A pretty nasty, well organized storm east of Denver has prompted a tornado warning from the NWS Denver this afternoon, but no reports of damage as of 3:45p CT…

AT THE BEACH: Mostly sunny days, fair nights on the coast through the Memorial Day weekend (from Panama City to Gulf Shores). Highs on the immediate coast close to 80, but 90 degree heat is likely inland. A few isolated showers could show up early next week, but nothing widespread is expected.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
