RADAR CHECK: It has been a relatively wet day for Alabama thanks to the upper low west of the state. The bulk of the rain at mid-afternoon was over the eastern counties…

The upper low is near El Dorado, Arkansas, and now seems to be drifting back to the west slowly as it weakens.

For tomorrow, we will forecast a mix of sun and clouds with scattered showers and thunderstorms and a high in the mid 80s.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: As the upper low fizzles out, we expect a trend toward fewer showers and storms and more sunshine Saturday and Sunday. Still, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms around both days, and the best chance will come during the afternoon and evening hours when the air is more buoyant. The chance of any one spot getting wet both days is about one in three and afternoon highs will creep up into the upper 80s… some places might even touch 90 degrees.

NEXT WEEK: An upper high begins to build across the Deep South, so showers and storms become widely scattered by the middle of the week with a pretty decent amount of sunshine each day. Highs will be in the 87 to 91 degree range most of the week.

GULF COAST WEATHER: Occasional showers and storms will continue from Panama City over to Gulf Shores tomorrow, but for the weekend showers become more scattered in nature, and we also expect increasing amounts of sunshine Saturday and Sunday. Next week should feature rather “normal” early June weather, with partly sunny days, fair nights, and a few scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the 80s on the coast, and water temperatures are in the 78-81 degree range for most reporting spots.
