| July 27, 2008 @ 6:18 pm | 1 Reply

Thunderstorms have developed over West Alabama this afternoon along an outflow boundary from storms over Mississippi.

At 6:15 p.m., a broken arc of storms extends from Marion County through Fayette County into southeastern Pickens and northern Greene Counties and to near Meridian.

The main storms are near Union, between Fayette and Kennedy, and northwest of Hamilton. Very heavy rain and dangerous lightning is associated with these storms.

A severe storm over Meridian is responsible for a severe thunderstorm warning for Lauderdale County, Mississippi. This storm will clip southern Sumter and move into northern Butler County.

Elsewhere, showers are over southeastern Madison extending into DeKalb County in Northeast Alabama.

Showers and storms are also over Lauderdale, Limestone and Lawrence Counties of North Alabama…but they are weakening.
