Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

Sun, Clouds, Storms

| May 31, 2014 @ 12:37 pm

Depending where you are in the state, you are either seeing mostly sunny or cloudy and overcast conditions. Much of eastern and central Alabama is seeing more sun than clouds, while areas to the south and along the Gulf Coast are seeing more clouds. In any case, with such a moist air mass in place, we will all continue to see a mix of sun and clouds today.

It is a warm and muggy afternoon across Central Alabama. All locations have made it into the 80s, and we are beginning to see a few showers and storms developing. At this time, this activity is confined to our southwestern areas in Sumter and Pickens Counties. These storms are producing a lot of lightning, as well as heavy rainfall, some gusty winds, and perhaps some small hail.

Through the rest of the afternoon, expected the radar to fill in as additional showers and storms will develop. Where they occur, they will provide some relief from the very warm weather and likely send temps from the 80s down into the 70s.
