Warning til 10 p.m.

Severe storm near York…moving SSW at 15-20 mph. Will affect Cuba…watch out Chief Vaughn!

Nickel size hail was reported in York at 9:28 p.m. Trees were reported down on CR32 in Geiger.

The main part of the storm will be in Choctaw County within 30 minutes.

Everyone wants to know if we can expect more storms tomorrow. I didn’t expect these. There is a frontal boundary/wind shift line over North Central Alabama tonight…it should become stationary over Central Alabama on Sunday. The main thing to take away from today is to never underestimate intense heating and dewpoints in the middle to upper 70s. Throw in a boundary, steep lapse rates, cold pools aloft and significant bulk shear, and things can go haywire in a hurry!

I will call for widely scattered storms tomorrow. Any that do form could be strong.
