Lull in the Rain
We are currently experiencing a lull in the rain as of 1:10 pm. The cold front bisects Central Alabama running roughly from Fort Payne in Dekalb County to Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa County. More rain is likely later this afternoon and tonight as post frontal precipitation was showing up on radar. The leading edge of that rain stretched from near Tupelo, MS, to Lake Charles, LA. Rainfall totals in that rain area are not expected to be significant with rainfall amounts probably less than a quarter of an inch.
The storm total rainfall reported at the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport was 2.39″ which gives us a total of 49.56″ for the year. This is about four and a half inches below the 30-year average for Birmingham.
