An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below, and on iTunes…

At 3:00… the Birmingham Airport was reporting 86 degrees, with a dewpoint of only 52, making the humidity only 30 percent. And, that is with a bright, sunny sky. What a delightful August day, and tonight will be very comfortable as well.

The mercury will drop to near 60 by daybreak tomorrow; with 50s likely for the cooler valleys. Temperatures early Sunday will be very similar.

Most of the weekend will be dry, but we will continue to mention the chance of a shower or storm late Sunday afternoon as moisture begins to return. The 12Z GFS suggests the best chance of showers and storms on Sunday will be a little west of here.

NEXT WEEK: Looks like a pretty decent chance of showers and storms just about every day next week as moist air will cover the state. Of course, the best chance of showers will come during the afternoon and evening hours, and they will be scattered. We will be able to fine tune the daily thunderstorm prospects late in the weekend. Highs next week will be mostly in the 87 to 90 degree range; in fact the GFS keeps us in the 80s all week.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin remains very quiet, and tropical storm formation is not expected through the weekend.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
