Expect developing showers and thunderstorms today; highest coverage of showers and storms should be in the 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. time frame, but even then the rain won’t be continuous, and the showers will tend to be rather random and scattered. The high today will be at or just over 80 degrees with some potential for a little sun at times.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: No real change; moist air, and the risk of a few showers or thunderstorms tomorrow and Saturday with a high in the low to mid 80s both days. Highest coverage of showers and storms should come during the afternoon and evening hours, but a late night or morning shower can’t be ruled out.

We have many events going on this weekend, including the Regions Tradition golf tournament at Shoal Creek and the ASHAA state baseball championship games in Montgomery… here are the positives for the weekend: The rain won’t be continuous; there will be very nice breaks in the rain, and the sun should break out at times. And, we don’t expect any severe weather. Just be ready for a rain delay or two; they should get the golf rounds and the baseball games in. Just be patient.

NEXT WEEK: Showers and storms remain possible Monday, but drier air moves down in here Tuesday with only a small risk of a stray morning shower. Then, Wednesday and Thursday look dry with a good supply of sunshine both days… then a few scattered showers could return Friday as moisture levels begin to rise. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

HANGOUT MUSIC FESTIVAL: About 2 to 4 hours of sunshine today and tomorrow at Gulf Shores with a few passing showers or storms both days. Then, on Sunday, expect increasing amounts of sunshine and fewer showers. They should get the concerts in, but rain delays are certainly possible. The high will be around 80 degrees on the immediate coast, with mid 80s inland. Sea water temperatures are very close to 80 degrees.
