Showers Remain Few And Far Between

| June 5, 2015 @ 6:23 am

HOT SUMMER WEEKEND AHEAD: Temperatures will continue to trend upward; we reach the upper 80s today, and a good chance we see 90 degree heat tomorrow and Sunday afternoon. We have hit 90 degrees on day earlier this year, back on May 10.

The weather will stay generally dry through the weekend, although a few small, isolated showers could pop up each afternoon. The chance of any one spot actually seeing one of those showers is about one in ten each day, not really worth mentioning in the forecast.

NEXT WEEK: Not much change Monday, but we expect an increase in the number of scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday through Friday as moisture levels rise, and air aloft becomes colder, making the atmosphere more unstable. Monday’s high will be close to 90, but highs drop back into the 80s for the rest of the week because of the increase in clouds and showers. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

AT THE BEACH: About 8 to 10 hours of sunshine each day along the coast from Panama City Beach west to Gulf Shores through Monday with widely scattered showers and storms around each day. Highs on the immediate coast will be in the low to mid 80s, with 87-90 degrees likely each afternoon inland. The sea water temperature early this morning at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is 83 degrees.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin remains quiet; over in the eastern Pacific Hurricane Blanca is packing sustained winds of 105 mph, and will be near the southern tip of Baja California, close to Cabo San Lucas, late in the weekend…. but it will be weakening quickly by then.
