Some sun is peeking through the clouds over North Alabama, with temperatures mostly in the 87-91 degree range.

THE WEEKEND: Hot is the word. We reach the mid 90s tomorrow, followed by upper 90s Sunday with a good supply of hazy sunshine both days. Afternoon storms are possible, but they will be very isolated in nature, and many communities will be dry both days.

NEXT WEEK: An approaching surface front will bring the chance of scattered showers and storms to the state Monday and Tuesday, and it looks like drier, continental air will arrive Wednesday, setting up lower humidity and cooler nights for the end of the week. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

AT THE BEACH: About 6 to 8 hours of sunshine daily through early next week from Gulf Shores west to Panama City Beach, with a passing storm from time to time. Highs on the immediate coast hold in the upper 80s, with mid 90s just a few miles inland. Sea water temperatures are mostly in the mid 80s.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin is quiet; over in the western Pacific Typhoon Soudelor is moving into Taiwan with sustained winds of 115 mph. Here is the view from the International Space Station…
