Dry Weather Through The Weekend

| September 16, 2015 @ 6:15 am

SLOW WARMING TREND: Temperatures are not as low across Alabama this morning at daybreak; coolest spot is Fort Payne with 52; most North/Central Alabama communities are closer to 60 degrees. A short wave over the northern Gulf is producing some high cloudiness across the state, but we stay dry today with a high up in the mid 80s.

TOMORROW THROUGH THE WEEKEND: Still rain-free with a gradual warming trend. Partly to mostly sunny days, mostly fair nights. The high tomorrow will be in the mid 80s, followed by upper 80s Friday and over the weekend.

NEXT WEEK: A weak front will drift down into North Alabama early in the week, and we will mention some risk of widely scattered showers Monday and Tuesday, but it sure doesn’t look like a big rain event. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Expect a clear sky for the high school games tomorrow and Friday night with temperatures falling through the 70s. No lightning delays this week.

The weather will be clear for the Alabama/Ole Miss game Saturday night in Tuscaloosa with a kickoff temperature near 80 degrees (8:15p CT), falling through the 70s during the game. Auburn travels to Baton Rouge to play LSU Saturday… kickoff is at 2:30. It will feel more like summer with 90 degrees at kickoff with a mostly sunny sky. No threat of rain.

TROPICS: We have twin waves in the Atlantic between Africa and the Lesser Antilles with some potential for slow development… but they will be gaining latitude, and in a few days upper winds will become unfavorable for development. The rest of the Atlantic basin is quiet.

AT THE BEACH: About 6 to 8 hours of sunshine daily on the coast from Panama City Beach west to Gulf Shores through the weekend; a few widely scattered storms will be around. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s, with sea water temperatures in the low 80s. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals. Escape to Gulf Shores Plantation where memories last a lifetime.
