Warm, Dry Weather Through The Weekend

| September 16, 2015 @ 3:23 pm

RADAR CHECK: We do see a few showers over West-Central Georgia this afternoon, but those most likely won’t impact East Alabama. We have a partly sunny sky over our state, with temperatures generally in the low 80s at mid-afternoon.

TOMORROW/FRIDAY: Warm, dry weather continues with a good supply of sunshine both days; highs will be in the 85-88 degree range.

THE WEEKEND: Expect highs in the upper 80s Saturday and Sunday with a partly to mostly sunny sky. We will mention a small risk of a shower Sunday afternoon over far North Alabama with a weak front just to the north.

Then, early next week, a few widely scattered showers are possible Monday and Tuesday as they weak front drifts to the south. No big rain event. See the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and more details.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Expect a clear sky for the high school games tomorrow and Friday night with temperatures falling through the 70s. No lightning delays this week.

The weather will be clear for the Alabama/Ole Miss game Saturday night in Tuscaloosa with a kickoff temperature near 80 degrees (8:15p CT), falling through the 70s during the game. Auburn travels to Baton Rouge to play LSU Saturday… kickoff is at 2:30. It will feel more like summer with 90 degrees at kickoff with a mostly sunny sky. No threat of rain.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION NINE FORMS: The 9th tropical depression of the season has formed in the Atlantic, but it is no threat to land, and will most likely dissipate before the week is over due to wind shear.

Another wave behind that new depression could become tropical depression ten tonight or tomorrow, but if that happens it probably won’t last more than a few days as hostile conditions continue across the deep tropical Atlantic.

AT THE BEACH: About 7 to 9 hours of sunshine tomorrow through Sunday with a few widely scattered showers or storms from Panama City Beach west to Gulf Shores. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s, with sea water temperatures in the low to mid 80s.
