Dry Through Friday

| October 19, 2015 @ 1:10 pm

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today; I am at the National Weather Association annual meeting in Oklahoma City**

FINE FALL WEATHER: Dry air makes for a pretty simple forecast through Friday; mostly sunny days, clear nights, and a slow warming trend. We expect low 70s tomorrow, mid 70s Wednesday, and low 80s Thursday and Friday. Tonight will be another cool night; most places will see a low in the 40s, although colder pockets will visit the 30s again with a little light frost possible. Then, we expect lows generally in the 50s Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Saturday continues to look rain-free with a high in the upper 70s along with a mix of sun and clouds, but we will need to mention some risk of showers Sunday as an upper trough gets closer. At the moment it doesn’t look like the rain will be especially heavy or widespread, but we will clearly need to forecast at least the possibility of showers. The high Sunday will drop into the low 70s with a generally cloudy sky.

NEXT WEEK: Some risk of showers will linger into Monday; the rest of the week looks rather quiet with a trend toward cooler temperatures. But, again, models hint at some potential late season tropical mischief in the western Gulf of Mexico early in the week that needs to be watched.

RACE WEEKEND AT TALLADEGA: Dry weather is the story at the Talladega Superspeedway this week and into Saturday with mostly sunny, warm days and fair, cool nights. The forecast challenge involves Sunday; rain begins to move into the state, and I think we have to mention some risk of showers Sunday afternoon at Talladega. There is a chance the rain holds off until the completion of the Camping World.com 500, but just a chance. We will have a much higher confidence understand of the timing of the rain later this week as the weekend gets closer. Stay tuned.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Alabama will host Tennessee at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa Saturday (2:30p CT kickoff)… the sky will be partly sunny with temperatures falling from around 78 at kickoff, into the low 70s by the fourth quarter. No significant chance of rain.

Auburn is on the road; they travel to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks at 11:00a CT Saturday. The sky will be mostly cloudy, with a passing shower or thunderstorm likely during the game. Temperatures will hover in the 67-70 degree range.

AT THE BEACH: Beautiful weather continues this week along the Central Gulf Coast from Gulf Shores east to Panama City Beach, with mostly sunny days and fair nights through Friday. Highs will be in the 70s; lows in the 60s… a few scattered showers could show up this weekend. See the complete Gulf Coast 7 Day Planner here. The Gulf Coast Beach Forecast is presented by Gulf Shores Plantation by Mandoki Hospitality Vacation Rentals. Escape to Gulf Shores Plantation where memories last a lifetime.
