The sky will clear through the afternoon and it is noticeably cooler today compared to yesterday with highs ranging from the upper 60s to lower 70s.
RADAR CHECK: Rain is confined to the far southern part of Alabama this afternoon; the sky has cleared over the northern counties. Rain over South Alabama ends this evening, and the sky becomes mostly fair statewide late tonight.
RADAR CHECK: Rain is widespread across Alabama early this morning along and south of I-59; there are few heavier storms over the southern counties, but they are well below severe limits. We note SPC (NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center) maintains a low end “marginal risk” of severe thunderstorms for far South Alabama and along the Gulf Coast today… a few storms there could produce small hail and gusty winds.
RADAR CHECK: Storms are moving out of Southeast Alabama just before sunrise; cooler and drier air will roll into the state today with a clearing sky and cooler temperatures. A freeze is likely early tomorrow morning over the northern half of the state
RADAR CHECK: There is some lingering light rain over Southeast Alabama this afternoon, but the rain has ended elsewhere and the sky has cleared over the northwest corner of the state. Look for the clearing to continue statewide tonight; the low early tomorrow will be in the 25-35 degree range.
