CLOUDS RETURN TODAY: Temperatures are below freezing across most of Alabama early this morning with a fair sky. Clouds increase today ahead of a disturbance that will bring some light rain to the state late this afternoon, tonight, and tomorrow. It is possible a few ice pellets could be mixed in with the rain as it initially falls, but if that happens there will be no impact.

RADAR CHECK: We have a number of showers and storms in progress early this morning over the southern third of Alabama, south of a stalled surface front. The highest coverage of rain today will stay south of that boundary, over South Alabama…. drier air is over the northern part of the state. Temperatures north of Birmingham are in the low to mid 60s at daybreak for a little touch of fall.

RADAR CHECK: Showers and thunderstorms continue across Southeast Alabama this afternoon, mostly south of a line from Andalusia to Phenix City. The rest of the state is seeing more clouds than sun thanks to a MCV (Mesoscale Convective Vortex) spinning away over the western counties of the state. Storms will end across Southeast Alabama later tonight; the sky becomes mostly fair for the rest of the state.
