TURNING COLDER: A deep upper low will drift just north of Alabama over the next 36 hours, and will bring a raw, winter-like day to the state tomorrow. We enjoyed some breaks in the overcast today, but clouds are increasing this afternoon as clouds around the upper low move into the state. The sky will be mostly cloudy tonight and tomorrow, with periods of light rain and drizzle.

COLD FRONT PASSING THROUGH: A sharp cold front is passing through Alabama early this morning. We note a few sprinkles over the Tennessee Valley, but for most places there will be no rain. The big story is the colder air; the day ahead will be windy and very cool with a high only in the 55-60 degree range. A brisk northwest wind of 12-25 mph will make it feel colder despite sunshine in full supply.

COLD FRONT OVER NORTH ALABAMA: We have quite the thermal contrast over Alabama this afternoon thanks to an Arctic front just northwest of Birmingham. Cullman reported 39 degrees at 2p CT, while on the south side of the front Birmingham was at 63. The front will continue to creep southward tonight, and the rain across the state will end from west to east over the next few hours.
