MERRY CHRISTMAS: Widespread rain across Alabama will end later this morning as much colder air rolls into the state. We do note a tornado watch remains in effect for a few counties in Southwest Alabama, but that will be cancelled soon as the storms move rapidly eastward. Temperatures fall into the 30s today with an icy north wind, and in the cold air a few snow flurries or showers are possible this afternoon, mainly east of I-65, and north of I-20.

BIG CHANGES AHEAD: The sky has become cloudy across Alabama this afternoon, and some light rain is now falling over the western half of the state. Rain becomes widespread later tonight, and a few strong storms are possible across the southwest part of the state. SPC now has the southern part of Mobile and Baldwin counties in a “slight risk” (level 2/5) overnight, with a “marginal risk” (level 1/5) as far north as Linden and Fort Deposit.

The advisory is set to expire at 12:00 pm Thursday.
