NWS Birmingham Clears A Few Counties From the Tornado Watch

An isolated severe threat may persist for a couple more hours early this morning before gradually diminishing. A couple of tornadoes and occasional strong/gusty winds should be the main threats.
At 143 AM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Mertz, or 15 miles northeast of Greensboro, moving east at 45 mph.
A line of rain and storms continues to slowly move eastward through Central Alabama while the individual cells within the line rapidly move northeast.
A new Tornado Watch has been issued for portions of Central Alabama until 6:00 am.
At 1208 AM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Piedmont, moving east at 45 mph.
Radar at 12:04 am shows a line of storms stretching from the northeastern parts of the area back to the west and southwest, stretching from Piedmont and Gadsden to Warrior and Adamsville to Tuscaloosa and Geiger.
At 1153 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Oak Grove, or 14 miles northwest of Hueytown, moving east at 40 mph.
Severe threat will focus along a corridor from central MS to extreme northwest GA over the next few hours. The primary risk will be locally damaging winds along with the threat for a tornado or two.
At 1146 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Fultondale has been hit bad… injuries reported, along with several houses and businesses damaged. A few people have been reported as trapped. Trees are down everywhere. Multiple towns and cities are sending rescue and response crews to the area.
At 1119 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
At 1104 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm was located near Pickensville, moving east at 40 mph.
At 1051 PM CST, a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado was located over Pinson, or near Gardendale, moving northeast at 45 mph.
