The SPC along with NWS Huntsville and NWS Birmingham has issued a new Tornado Watch for a few counties in North Alabama and several counties in Central Alabama until 10 pm tonight.

So far, while we have some showers and thunderstorms forming across the area as of 2:30 pm, most of these storms are staying under severe limits as the cap remains in place.
The latest Mesoscale Discussion from the SPC is out, and it states that there is the potential for a few supercellular thunderstorms to form and grow severe over the extreme northern and northern parts of North Alabama. It appears that the storms are beginning to wear down the cap. If any of those are able to break through, they will quickly become severe.
The SPC along with NWS Huntsville has issued a Tornado Watch until 7 pm this evening for the following counties in North Alabama: Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone and Morgan counties.
The latest Mesoscale Discussion from the SPC is out, and it states that a tornado watch is likely to be issued within the next couple of hours for portions of North Alabama and up into portions of East Tennessee and portions of southern Kentucky.

For now, only a few scattered showers are occurring over the northern parts of the area, with a few isolated showers occurring over the southern half.
Well, after a few folks kept us awake well after 3 am this morning shooting off fireworks, Mother Nature may do the same through the night tonight as severe weather will be possible from this evening through Sunday morning.
