At 1200 AM CST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Glen Allen to near Ashcraft Corner to near Pickensville, moving east at 60 mph.
At 1139 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Severe thunderstorm and tornado risks will continue across portions of Mississippi and Alabama over the next couple of hours.
At 1113 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles south of Cherokee, moving east at 45 mph.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Alabaster, Bessemer, Pelham, Helena, Leeds, Chelsea, Montevallo, Indian Springs Village, Vincent, Westover, Oak Mountain State Park, Oak Mountain Amphitheater, Riverchase, Riverchase Galleria, Patton Creek, Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, Inverness and Meadowbrook.
NWS Birmingham and the Storm Prediction Center has issued a new TORNADO WATCH effective immediately until 6 am Wednesday morning for the following counties in Central Alabama: Autauga, Chilton, Coosa, Elmore, Jefferson, Lowndes, Montgomery, Pike, Shelby, Bibb, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker.
The severe threat continues across the current Tornado Watches, and is expected to continue into the overnight hours. A new Tornado Watch will be issued before 11 pm to replace those earlier watches and cover additional area downstream into central Alabama.
AT 1004 PM CST, A CONFIRMED TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR AKRON, OR 13 MILES NORTHEAST OF EUTAW, MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH.
At 945 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Eutaw, moving east at 40 mph.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Anniston, Oxford, Pell City, Jacksonville, Leeds, Moody, Piedmont, Odenville, West End-Cobb Town, Cobb Town, Saks, Fort McClellan, Lincoln, Margaret, Argo, Weaver, Riverside, Ragland, Ohatchee and Hobson City.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Bessemer, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Trussville, Hueytown, Gardendale, Irondale, Leeds, Moody, Fairfield, Fultondale, Center Point, Pleasant Grove, Clay, Pinson, Tarrant and Midfield.
Locations impacted include Eutaw, Union, Gainesville, New West Greene, Mantua, West Greene, Knoxville, Snoddy, Warsaw, New Mount Hebron, Eutaw Municipal Airport, Clinton, Pleasant Ridge, Lewiston and I 20 Rest Area Near Eutaw.
Heavy rain continues to fall over the northern parts of the state, especially along and north of the I-59 corridor. There are several flood advisories in effect for portions of the area until midnight tonight.
At 816 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Kinterbish, or near Cuba, moving northeast at 40 mph.
