Mobile Home Destroyed in Emelle: Tornado Warning Upgraded to CONFIRMED
We have reports of damage from Emelle in Sumter County. A mobile home was destroyed. It is unclear whether it was occupied or not. Rescue units are on the scene.

AT 1005 AM CST, A CONFIRMED TORNADO WAS LOCATED OVER AKRON, OR 7 MILES NORTHEAST OF EUTAW, MOVING EAST AT 50 MPH.

At 1000 AM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Pisgah, or 8 miles east of Scottsboro, moving northeast at 55 mph.

Cooper Green Mercy Health broke ground on a new building to house its clinical operations Monday, Jan. 9. It will be built on the site of the former Cooper Green parking deck, which was demolished in 2022.

Tornado Watch Update: A Few Counties in NW Parts of Central Alabama Removed
NWS Birmingham has cancelled the Tornado Watch for Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Winston counties in Central Alabama, but continues the watch for Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Chilton, Coosa, Etowah, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker counties in Central Alabama until 1 pm.
CONFIRMED Tornado Warning for Greene and Sumter Counties Until 10 am
The NWS BMX has upgraded the TOR for Greene and Sumter to confirmed based on a debris signature on the radar. Strong rotation is show just south of Gainesville. It will pass near or north of Boligee. If you are in Eutaw you must go to a safe place now.

At 856 AM CST, a severe thunderstorm was located near Harvest, or near Madison, moving northeast at 45 mph. This storm has a history of producing damage in Franklin, Lawrence, and Morgan Counties.
