At 1:05 p.m., the heaviest activity was over southern Marion and Lamar Counties moving into Fayette County. This actviity trails back into east Mississippi between Starkville and Columbus.
Showers and storms will be on the increase through the afternoon and into this evening ahead of a cool front that will push into the state later tonight.
It is windy out there, with winds gusting to over 25 mph at times. So be careful on area waterways. The winds are the result of the pressure differential between the low pressure system formerly known as Ike and the strong subtropical high to our southeast.
