Waited until most or all of the reports were in to avoid so many updates. Quite a variation in the lows because of a temperature inversion:

41 Deerfoot-Clay but 31 in Pinson only about 5 air miles to the NW
30 Vigo…east of Piedmont…Bill always adds interesting comments to his report
30 New Market…home of the coldest ever in Alabama, 27 below 1/30/66. Elevation 760 feet
32 Alabaster/Navajo Pines
31 Cuba, SW of York and about as close to the Mississippi border as you can get
32 Anniston Airport
39 Auburn
36 Birmingham Airport but 31 at Pinson in NE part of the county
36 Shelby County Airport…home of the Birmingham NWS
28 Decatur
38 Dothan
32 Evergreen
33 Huntsville, home of some very high IQ people
37 Mobile
33 Montgomery, Dannelly Field
32 Muscle Shoals
31 Troy…my grandaughter, Stephanie, much higher IQ than me, attends Troy University

A MARKED TEMPERATURE INVERSION
32 at Anniston Airport at Oxford this morning but, not far away, it was only 46 atop Mt. Cheaha, Alabama’s highest point at 2407 feet. A 14-degree difference!
