A Few Showers By Thursday

A SLOW WARM-UP: Dry air means lots of sunshine today and tomorrow; the latest model output suggests a high today in the upper 40s, followed by low 60s tomorrow.

Clouds return quickly tomorrow night, and there is a window for rain showers Thursday morning thanks to a passing cold front. The 06Z GFS hints the best chance of showers will come from about 3:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, with amounts only around a quarter of an inch or less. Moisture will be very limited. Sunshine returns on Friday with another shot of chilly air; the high Friday will be around 50.

THE WEEKEND: Cool and dry weather is the story for Saturday and Sunday; highs in the 50s with early morning lows around the freezing mark.

NEXT BIG EVENT: Still looks like we could have a major rain event one week from today, Tuesday December 9. See the Weather Xtreme video for the graphics; the GFS shows a very dynamic storm system that will bring potential for heavy rain, strong thunderstorms, and maybe a few snow flakes on the back side of the system in the colder air the following day, Wednesday December 10. It will be interesting to watch this one in coming days.
