An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

Looks like a rather benign weather pattern through the weekend. We will continue to mention a chance of showers from about 3:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Thursday with a cold front, but with only limited moisture I figure rain amounts will be a quarter-inch or less for most Alabama communities. The rain should end by the 3:00 p.m. state championship football game at Legion Field (the first of six games Thursday through Saturday). Cooler and drier air will follow the Thursday morning rain. Friday will be mostly sunny and cool with a high at or just over 50 degrees.

THE WEEKEND: The weather stays cool and dry Saturday and Sunday, with a good supply of sunshine both days. Highs in the mid 50s; lows at or just below freezing.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: I will guarantee no rain for Saturday’s SEC Championship game, Alabama vs Florida, in the Georgia Dome. You know the deal… light wind and 71 degrees at kickoff. Gotta love the dome games.

NEXT WEEK: The GFS continues to show a good chance of rain by Tuesday of next week, but the model has backed off on the intensity. Then, it shows a stronger system around December 12 with potential for heavy rain and much colder air on the backside of the system. Model inconsistency means little confidence in a specific forecast here; see the Weather Xtreme video for all the details on the long range outlook.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left. Scroll down for the show notes on last night’s newly posted episode.

TWITTER: Don’t forget, you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with my adventures in life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

I had a great time as always seeing the students today at the Etowah Career Training Center in Attalla; they will be on the KIDCAM today at 5:00 on ABC 33/40 News. I will have the next Weather Xtreme video here by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow…..
