Sprinkles?

| December 6, 2008 @ 10:39 am | Reply

A few light precipitation returns are showing up on radar this morning across the Tennessee Valley.

They are associated with a fairly potent disturbance swinging southeastward in the upper flow. The disturbance doesn’t have much to work with in the way of moisture, so it is mainly producing clouds. \

We put them in the forecast package today in anticipation they might occur.

No official reports of precipitation hitting the ground were received through 10:30 a.m., but I would not be surprised to hear of a few light sprinkles.

Temperature profiles are warm above the surface, and as surface readings are now generally above freezing, any sprinkles that do reach the ground should not cause any freezing or frozen precipitation problems.

Skies are cloudy for the most part, althrough there will be a little sun at times. Temperatures will struggle to get out of the 40s today and should remain in the 40s on Sunday.
