Snow In Houston

See some pictures of the rare snow in Houston from KHOU viewers here.

Snow is increasing rather rapidly over the southeast part of Texas, and is headed for Louisiana. Next stop, Mississippi, then Alabama.

Once we get this thing into Louisiana, we will have a much better idea if our forecast for tomorrow is on track. It is about time to quit looking at model output, and simply look out the window using satellite and radar images. And, of course, the new upper air soundings that will be rolling in shortly.

Still looks like the best chance of accumulating snow tomorrow will be in a broad band from Jackson (Mississippi) to Columbus (Mississippi) to Double Springs (Alabama). One to three inches of snow is likely on grassy areas, and there is good potential for a narrow strip of heavier snow somewhere within that area.

Remember, once we see the system in Louisiana and look at the latest soundings, we might have to adjust the forecast a bit, but for now we see no reason to do that. Stay tuned!
