Tropical Depression Number Eight Forms

The disturbance northeast of the Bahamas has become better organized during the day and has been classified as a tropical depression.

It should become Tropical Storm Gert later tonight or early Sunday.

It will curve north and northeast ahead of a trough of low pressure over the eastern United States. It should remain east of the U.S., west of Bermuda and south of New England and the Canadian Maritimes.
