Afternoon Radar Update

| August 12, 2017 @ 3:26 pm

A quick scan of the radar this afternoon shows scattered to numerous showers and storms ongoing across Alabama. The general motion of these are northwest to southeast and moving rather quickly, not sitting over any particular spot for very long.

No storms are severe, and we are not expecting any severe storms. However, some of the stronger storms are producing gusty winds, with some lightning, and of course very heavy rainfall. Storms are not as robust this afternoon as compared to recent days, but we could still see some isolated issues of flash flooding with all the recent rains.

These showers/storms are providing some heat relief this afternoon where they are occurring, knocking temperatures down into the upper 70s from the lower 90s.
