Tornado Warning Just West of Alabama Border

The NWS in Jackson has issued a tronado warning for parts of Lauderdale and Kemper Counties in Mississippi. This is just west of Sumter County, Alabama. The storm producing the potential tornado is moving east toward Cuba, York and Livingston.

A line of showers and storms is over Northwest Alabama, from Limestone and Lawrence Counties through Marion and into Lamar County. This line will continue to push southeast throug the remainder of the afternoon and into the evening hours.

Not much in the way of lightning with these showers yet, but as they continue to move southeast, they may grow to heights that will support the development of lightning. With decent wind shear, not out of the question that a few of them could become strong.

Ahead of the line, any storms that develop generally south of I-20 could form rotating updrafts and become severe, but widespread severe weather is not expected.

Showers and over East Alabama over parts of Cleburne, Randolph, Talladega, Clay and Tallapoosa Counties were moving east toward Georgia. Others were over South Central Alabama.
