Some Reports Across South Florida…Wind Gust to 83 mph at NWS Key West

…Winds just gusted to 83 mph at the NWS Key West.

Water levels have risen in Miami Beach, with water running through the streets according to NBC Miami.

The center of Major Hurricane Irma is 70 miles south southeast of Key West. The eyewall is less than 25 miles from Key West.

The eye is moving north northwest at 9 mph now and should begin accelerating.

The eyewall will begin impacting the Lower Keys around 5 a.m. or so. Winds will be sustained at over 130 mph with gusts to over 150 mph.

It appears the eye may pass directly over Key West with a period of calm lasting between a few minutes to nearly two hours depending on the exact traversal.

…75 mph winds gust at Alligator Reef Light at 10:34 p.m.

The tide at Key West is now 3.4 feet above normal.

At Vaca Key on the Florida Bay side, the tide is 2.1 feet above normal.

Naples is currently 1 foot above normal.
