Frost Advisory For North Alabama Late Tonight

| November 10, 2017 @ 3:11 pm

COLD NIGHT AHEAD: With a clear sky and light wind, temperatures will drop into the 30s over much of North/Central Alabama early tomorrow morning, and a frost advisory is in effect for the northern third of the state. Normally colder spots could dip below freezing.

Tomorrow will be pretty much a clone of today; a sunny sky with a high in the mid 60s. Sunday should be a touch cooler; with a mix of sun and clouds the high will be closer to 60 degrees. We will continue to mention the risk of isolated showers thanks to a passing disturbance, but moisture will be very limited and many places will remain dry.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: For high school football playoff games tonight, the weather will be chilly. A clear sky with temperatures falling into the 40s during the games.

Auburn will host Georgia tomorrow at Jordan-Hare Stadium (2:30p CT kickoff)… the sky will be sunny with a kickoff temperature near 63 degrees… falling into the 50s by the final whistle.

Alabama travels to Starkville to take on Mississippi State tomorrow (6:00p CT kickoff)… mostly fair with temperatures falling from near 60 at kickoff, into the 50s during game.

UAB is also on the road; they take on Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) tomorrow evening (6:00p CT kickoff) in San Antonio… the sky will be mostly cloudy with just a few widely scattered showers; kickoff temperature near 68, falling into the low 60s by the second half.

NEXT WEEK: The weather looks dry Monday through Thursday with pleasant days and cool nights; highs mostly in the 60s and lows in the 40s. A cold front will bring the risk of showers at the end of the week, but at the moment moisture looks limited and it most likely won’t be a big rain event, and severe storms are not expected.

Way out in the long range, global models continue to suggest a cold pattern for the Deep South around Thanksgiving. Too early to be specific, of course…

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin is very quiet as the 2017 hurricane winds down in coming weeks.
