It’s a rather quiet forecast for the next several days, but there is a little hope for some rain by the end of the forecast period.
STILL DRY: Today will be the 13th consecutive day with no rain for Birmingham, and the dry spell continues through early next week with mostly sunny warm days and fair pleasant nights. Highs will be in the 86-91 degree range through Monday.
PLEASANT LATE SEPTEMBER DAY: A low level easterly flow has helped to bring in somewhat cooler air into Alabama today; temperatures are in the upper 70s and low 80s in many areas, which is below average for September 28. Clouds are persistent over the southwest counties… the sky is mostly sunny elsewhere. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 60s.
DRY IS THE WORD: Today will be the 12th consecutive day with no measurable rain at Birmingham, and there is no sign of any rain for the next seven days. Today will feature a sunny sky with a high in the 80s. Sunny warm days, fair pleasant nights will continue through the weekend with highs in the 86-91 degree range tomorrow through Sunday.
DRY DAYS: All 67 Alabama counties are rain-free at mid-afternoon. A few isolated showers or storms could pop up over the far southern counties this evening, but most places will stay dry. Clouds have moved into parts of East and South Alabama, where temperature are in the mid to upper 70s… other communities are in the 80s with a mix of sun and clouds.
SHOWERS REMAIN SCARCE: A few widely scattered showers or storms could develop over South Alabama later today and early tonight, but the chance of any given spot there seeing rain is 25 percent or less. Otherwise, today will be dry with a partly to mostly sunny along with a high in the 85-91 degree range.
WARM SEPTEMBER AFTERNOON: Temperatures are generally in the 86-91 degree range across Alabama this afternoon… the exception is Mobile where they have soared to 94 degrees at mid-afternoon. Most of the showers on radar area across the southeast counties of the state, in areas generally east and south of Montgomery. A few small, isolated showers are forming elsewhere, but most places are dry with a partly sunny sky.
A FEW SHOWERS: We can use some rain around here; Birmingham has gone nine days without measurable rain. Tuscaloosa got a good downpour yesterday, but many places were dry. We will mention the chance of a few spotty showers and storms through tomorrow, but nothing really widespread. Odds of any one place getting wet will range from 10 percent across the Tennessee Valley of North Alabama, to 60 percent near the Gulf Coast.
RADAR CHECK: Scattered showers and storms are slowly increasing across Alabama this afternoon… some of the heaviest rain is falling across parts of Pickens, Tuscaloosa, and Bibb counties in West Alabama as I write this. The storms are not severe, but they are producing heavy rain and some lightning. Away from the storms, the sky is partly sunny with temperatures mostly in the 80s.
RADAR CHECK: We note a few scattered showers over Southwest Alabama early this morning, otherwise it is a dry start to the day with temperatures ranging from the upper 50s over North Alabama, to the mid 70s over the western counties where clouds are in place. We expect a mix of sun and clouds today with just a few isolated showers around along with a high in the 80s.
The first day of fall is here, but it will still feel like summer as some locations will hit the lower 90s today. We’ll have a few showers sneak into the forecast by the start of the work week.
RADAR CHECK: We note a few small, isolated showers over far South Alabama this afternoon… the rest of the state is enjoying a partly to mostly sunny sky temperatures in the 80s. Tonight will be fair with a low in the 60s.
CALM PATTERN CONTINUES: Most of Alabama will stay dry through Sunday with mostly sunny days and fair nights. Highs in the 80s, lows mostly in the 60s. We will mention a small risk of a shower Sunday afternoon over the western half of the state, but the chance of any one spot seeing rain is 10-20 percent.
WARM AFTERNOON: Temperatures are in the 80s across most of Alabama this afternoon with generally dry conditions. We do note a few small, isolated showers over the southern quarter of the state, but those won’t last long. Tonight will be mostly fair with a low in the 60s.
