Mainly Sunny, Cool Saturday Afternoon

| November 11, 2017 @ 12:45 pm

It is a beautiful but cool Saturday afternoon with more sun than clouds and temperatures mainly in the lower 60s. We are dry today and for any outdoor plans the rest of today, there will be no issues from the weather department.

TONIGHT: We are going to see a few more clouds tonight, and that will prevent temperatures from falling as low tonight too, most of Central Alabama will settle into the mid 40s. A wedge feature to the east could bring an isolated shower to our extreme eastern counties, but nothing heavy or widespread.

SUNDAY: Expect more clouds tomorrow and we will continue to mention the risk of isolated showers thanks to a passing shortwave disturbance to our north, but moisture will be very limited and many places will remain dry. With the clouds, temperatures in eastern counties will stay in the upper 50s and lower 60s, while mid 60s are expected in West Alabama.

THE WEEK AHEAD: The weather looks dry Monday through Thursday with pleasant days and cool nights as we are going to under the influence of northwest flow; afternoon highs will be in the 60s and lows in the 40s. A cold front will bring the risk of showers at the end of the week, a favorable wind field for storms, but moisture still looks limited, so severe storms are not expected at this time. For now, expect widespread rain Friday and/or Saturday.

IN THE TROPICS: A non-tropical area of low pressure is forecast to form during the next couple of days a few hundred miles south-southwest of the Azores. This low could acquire some subtropical characteristics by the middle of next week while it moves generally northeastward. Formation chance through 5 days…30 percent. If this system does develop, it would receive the name Sean.
