A Fabulous Black Friday Out There At Midday

| November 24, 2017 @ 1:15 pm

Other than a few high clouds over the western portions of the area, maximum sunshine is reaching the surface across Central Alabama as we have mad it to the 1:00 PM hour. Temperatures at this time are in the 60s across the area. Birmingham is currently at 63º in Birmingham, while the warm spot is Eufaula at 68º. Still rather cool across the northern parts of the area, as Cullman and Haleyville are tied as the cool spot at 61º.

It will be much of the same throughout the rest of the daytime hours, with highs reaching the 60s throughout the area. If you’re out shopping, temperatures will be falling into the lower to mid-50s throughout Central Alabama around 6:00 PM and in the mid-40s to the lower 50s by 10:00 PM. There will be plenty of stars seen in the skies, and the waxing crescent moon shall be easily seen with clear skies tonight.

There may be a big football game to be played in the state of Alabama tomorrow. UAB will be hosting UTEP at Legion Field tomorrow, with kickoff scheduled at noon. Temperatures at the start will be in the lower 60s and rise to the mid-60s by the 4th quarter underneath partly sunny skies.

There is that other game that is being played in Auburn, as the Tigers are hosting the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide. Kickoff is scheduled at 2:30 PM with temperatures starting off in the mid-60s, then falling into the 50s by the end of the game. Skies will be partly sunny.

For those not going to the football games, the rest of Central Alabama will have partly to mostly cloudy skies throughout your Saturday. Afternoon highs will be in the 60s, then dipping into the 50s by supper time. Overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s.

ON THIS DAY IN WEATHER HISTORY
1982 – Hurricane Iwa lashed the Hawaiian Islands of Niihau, Kauai, and Oahu with high winds and surf. Winds gusting to 120 mph caused extensive shoreline damage. Damage totaled 150 million dollars on Kauai and fifty million dollars on Oahu. The peak storm surge on the south shore was six to eight feet. It marked the first time in 25 years that Hawaii had been affected by a hurricane.
