Dense Fog Advisory Issued For Much Of Central Alabama From 9PM tonight to 9AM Sunday

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Dense Fog Advisory, which is in effect from 9:00 PM this evening to 9:00 AM CST Sunday.

Counties in the advisory are Autauga, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lowndes, Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Shelby, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston.

Fog is again expected across Central Alabama tonight. Visibilities of less than one mile are expected, with locally dense fog restricting visibilities to a quarter mile or less. At this time, dense fog is most likely to set in near and west of a line from Double Springs to Wetumpka to Troy.

VISIBILITY…One quarter of a mile or less at times.

IMPACTS…Low visibility will make travel difficult. Motorists are urged to increase their following distance and allow extra time to reach their destinations.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Dense Fog Advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving, slow down, use your low beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
