Spring-Like Weekend

**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video due to the travel schedule**

SPRING FEVER: What a great weekend ahead. Lots of sunshine; afternoon highs between 66 and 70. Time to get out and breathe some fresh air. Of course, winter is far from over, but this will be a reminder that spring isn’t far away. The mild weather continues through most of next week.

NEXT RAIN: A few scattered showers could break out on Tuesday, but it still looks like the next major rain event will come Wednesday night. The good news is that the 12Z run of the GFS keeps the trend going of the best dynamics remaining west and north of Alabama, which will lessen any severe weather threat. That, of course, is not carved in stone and we will be watching developments over the weekend and early next week. Thursday and Friday of next week look dry and mild; in fact the GFS is keeping highs in the upper 60s and low 70s on these days as the Arctic air is nowhere in sight.

VOODOO COUNTRY: The 12Z run keeps the Arctic air out of Alabama through February 21, but I am not totally convinced that is the right solution. I still think the overall pattern favors changeable weather, with a little taste of everything during the latter half of the month.

TWITTER: Don’t forget, you can follow our news and weather updates from ABC 33/40 on Twitter here. And, my personal Twitter feed is here if you want to keep up with my adventures in life. Twitter is a short messaging service you can receive via the web, cell phone, or IM.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.

I am on the road this afternoon to the World of Wheels… I will be there live at 5:00 and 6:00. I under Henry Winkler will be joining me on one of the two shows; good to hang out with the Fonz. I had a wonderful time with the 5th and 6th graders at Glencoe Middle School today; be looking for them on the KIDCAM today at 5:00 and 6:00 on ABC 33/40 News! Brian Peters will have the updates over the weekend; my next video will be up bright and early Monday morning at 7:00. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the weather!
