More Clouds Than Sun At Midday; A Few Showers Creeping In

| January 26, 2018 @ 1:19 pm

At 1:00 PM across Central Alabama, we have more clouds than sun at this point, and a few showers are starting to creep in the southwestern parts of the area. These showers are very light in nature, and some of these may not even be reaching the ground. The rest of the area is dry, but that will change when we reach Saturday morning. Temperatures are ranging from the mid-50s in the north to the mid-60s in the south. Birmingham was 57 degrees as of this post.

WEATHER FOR THE REST OF YOUR FRIDAY
We’ll continue to have increasing clouds from the southwest throughout the remainder of the afternoon and evening hours, with rain chances increasing during the late night and overnight hours. Showers will be scattered in nature, and where it is not raining, patchy fog may develop. Afternoon highs will be in the lower to mid-60s, with overnight lows in the 40s to near 50 degrees.

SATURDAY’S WEATHER INCLUDES CLOUDS AND RAIN
Skies will be mainly cloudy on the first day of the weekend, and will have periods of rain throughout the day. It will not rain all day long, but chances are over 70% through the day. Amounts will be light through the end of the day for much of the area, less than 1/4 inch, but amounts will be higher in the southwestern parts of the area, up to 1/2inch or a little more. Highs will be the upper 50s to the mid-60s, with lows in the upper 40s to the mid-50s.

ON THIS DAY IN WEATHER HISTORY
1983 (22nd-29th) – The California coast was battered by a storm which produced record high tides, thirty-two foot waves, and mudslides, causing millions of dollars damage. The storm then moved east and dumped four feet of snow on Lake Tahoe.
