Our line of storms is moving quickly eastward across Northeast Alabama this afternoon.

A severe thunderstorm warning continues for Etowah and extreme northern St. Clair Counties until 2:15 p.m. DeKalb County just tagged with a severe thunderstorm warning until 245 pm.

A bow echo was still moving across these counties…approaching Gadsden, Attalla and Reece City. It is capable of 70 mph winds, which can blow over non-anchored mobile homes, damage roofs and blow down trees, tree limbs and power lines.

The line extends southwestward to Moody, Inverness and Hoover.

Other storms are lined up from southern Talladega through Clay, Coosa and into Chilton Counties with still other storms in Autauga County. A power line was just reported down in Talladega.

Behind the line, winds shift to southwest then west and drier air spills in. Blue skies already reported at Sylvan Springs in western Jefferson County.

The dewpoint at Jasper is now 44F. It is 37F in southern Lamar County! That’s the dewpoint…not the air temperature. It indicates very dry air.

Ahead of the line, a tornado watch remains in effect until 5 p.m. A wind advisory is in effect for the rest of Central Alabama.
