More Record Highs Broken Today

| February 20, 2018 @ 5:50 pm

Well, its time to pull out the animated GIF of Donna Reed breaking a record, a scene from the classic movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life,” as we have more record-breaking high temperatures in Central Alabama for the second day in a row.

Record High Temperature Set At Birmingham
Today’s high temperature at the Birmingham International Airport reached 80 degrees, breaking the previous record high of 78 degrees set back in 1986.

Record High Temperature Set At Montgomery
Today’s high temperature at Montgomery reached 83 degrees, breaking the previous record high of 80 degrees set just one year ago in 2017.

Record High Temperature Set At Tuscaloosa
Today’s high temperature at the Tuscaloosa Regional Airport reached 82 degrees, breaking the previous record high of 81 degrees set back in 2014.

Other records that were broken or tied across the state from today and on Monday…

Record High Temperature Set At Mobile
Today’s high temperature at Mobile reached 83 degrees, equaling the record high set just one year ago in 2017.

Record High Temperature Set At Huntsville
Monday’s high temperature at Huntsville reached 77 degrees, breaking the previous record high of 75 degrees set back in 1939.

Record High Temperature Set At Muscle Shoals
Monday’s high temperature at Muscle Shoals reached 76 degrees, equaling the record high set back in 1986.

I imagine we could see even more records fall throughout the rest of the work week, and Birmingham may give the all time warmest February high temperature on Friday, as the forecast temperature is 82… just one shy of the record. The last time 83 degrees was felt in February in Birmingham was back on February 23rd, 1996. Stay tuned!
