Areal Flood Advisory for Parts of Talladega, Calhoun, & Cleburne Counties Until 2:00 AM Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Northeastern Talladega County in east central Alabama…
Calhoun County in east central Alabama…
Cleburne County in east central Alabama…

* Until 200 AM CDT

* At 1101 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Anniston, Oxford, Talladega, Jacksonville, Piedmont, Heflin, Cobb
Town, West End-Cobb Town, Fort McClellan, Saks, Weaver, Munford,
Hobson City, Ranburne, Fruithurst, Edwardsville, Talladega
Superspeedway, Anniston Regional Airport, Blue Mountain and
Alexandria.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
