Daily Climate Report for Birmingham: May 19th, 2018
The Record high was 98 in 1976 and the Record low of 43 was set in 1962
Yesterday was another hot one across Central Alabama, with highs running some 7 degrees above normal.
Highs across the area included 89F at Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, 88F at Calera and Anniston and 87F at Auburn. Montgomery reached 92F to be the hottest station in the state. Among the non-First Order stations, Andalusia/Opp in Covington County was the state’s hot spot with 94F.
We continue to run 5.5 degrees above normal for the month in Birmingham temperatures.
SItting at 2.30 inches of rain for the month, which is about 0.80 inches below normal. But if the European model is right about a tropical system in the Gulf, rainfall starting late next Sunday into Monday and Tuesday could reach 2.5 inches or higher, erasing that deficit. Stay tuned.
