The town of Greensburg, Kansas has taken a direct hit from a strong tornado tonight. Up to 70 percent of the town is damaged, reports say.

A late report…the Pleaant View Motel in Greensburg was destroyed.

Ambulances from places like Dodge City and Garden City are being dispatched to Greensburg.

There are no reports of fatalities so far, but there are several injuries reported.

Communication is chaotic. People from around the country have been contacting us for information because of our posts.

The tornadic storm is now in the St. John community. The tornado also hit Macksville and Trousdale.

Greensburg is famous for an incident that happened in 1928. A farmer in Greensburg, Will Keller, actually was able to look up into a tornado funnel as it passed over his storm cellar. Here is a link to his story.
