Is Andrea on the Horizon?

| May 9, 2007 @ 8:08 am | 1 Reply

The National Hurricane Center has issued it’s latest advisory on the hybrid system located off the coast of Georgia and North Florida, and as you can see in the advisory text, the system is beginning to take on subtroprical characteristics. If this continues, then this storm system could be named Andrea later today.

A quick peek at the GFS and NAM shows some major differences in the future of this system. The GFS seems to just dissipate it though you can track a shadow of the system out a couple of days. The NAM is more aggressive with it with a clearly identifiable storm center all the way into the Gulf of Mexico. Both models do seem to forecast it to move southwestward.

Stay tuned to this wild and wacky world of weather.
