Showers continue over East Alabama early this afternoon ahead of a northward moving warm front. They are mainly in an area bounded by I-20, I-65 and I-85.

Lighter showers extend to the west. Drizzle is being reported in the Birmingham metro area.

Clouds were thick over much of the state. There were some thinning spots over Southwest Alabama, and some sunshine was peeking through in the Northwest corner of the state.

Temperatures are cooler than we expected so far because of the thick clouds and light precipitation. Readings across Central Alabama are in the 60s. &0s are in place over South Alabama behind the front.

The heaviest weather is into Georgia now. Severe weather is possible over in South Georgia this afternoon it could build back into Southeast Alabama. South Florida and North Florida will see a continued threat overnight.

A strong cold front will arrive in Alabama tonight. It will usher in much colder air, including the chance for a freeze Monday and Tuesday nights.

Central and North Alabama looks like it will get a reprieve from severe weather, although there could be a few isolated warnings this evening as the front moves through. There will be a threat of severe weather further to the north over the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys where heating and better dynamics are in place.

It looks like we could deal with strong storms again in the Thursday night time frame.
