Cloudy, Cool, & A Few Sprinkles At Midday

| October 26, 2018 @ 12:36 pm

Other than a few sprinkles that are falling, we are mainly dry across Central Alabama at the noon hour. Radar is picking up a few echos of sprinkles over the central parts of the area, but with much drier air moving in, some of these may not even be reaching the ground. Skies are generally cloudy across the area with a few breaks allowing some sunshine to the surface. Temperatures at 12:00 pm CDT are in the mid-50s to the mid-60s, with Birmingham reporting 58 degrees. The warm spots of Selma, Montgomery, and Uniontown are reporting 63 degrees, while the cool spot of Haleyville is at 54 degrees.

While we may have a few sprinkles left over, much of the rest of the area will be dry throughout the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening hours. Skies will remain mainly cloudy and highs will top out in the upper 50s to the upper 60s. For tonight’s area high school football games, we’ll have cloudy skies and maybe a few sprinkles over the northeastern parts of the area. Temperatures at kickoff will be in the mid-50s to the lower 60s, and falling into the lower to the mid-50s by the final whistle. Overnight lows will be in the mid-40s to the lower 50s with a few sprinkles over the northeastern locations.

Looks like Saturday will be mainly dry for most of Central Alabama with only a few isolated light showers or sprinkles possible over the northeastern parts of the area. Skies will begin to clear out late in the day and afternoon highs will top out in the 60s. We’ll have mostly clear skies by sunset and overnight lows make it down into the mid to upper 40s. Plenty of sunshine for your Sunday and much warmer, with highs back up in the 70s.

Nothing brewing close to home in the tropics but we should have Tropical Storm Oscar developing over the weekend. It will be no threat to the US as it will be turning to the northeast and headed towards the North Atlantic by next week.
