Alabama Weather Update – 10:25 a.m.
A disturbance moving east into West Central Alabama has spread showers into western and southwestern sections of the state.
The disturbance shows clearly on radar over Pickens County.
There is even a little thunder along the leading edge of the line over Southwest Alabama.
AT 10:20 a.m., a curved band of showers extends from Marion and Lamar Counties through Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Bibb, eastern Perry and Dallas Counties.
An area of showers was behind this line over Pickens, Greene, Hale and Marengo Counties.
There are some showers on the backside of the disturbance near Meridian. Those will track eastward with the system.
The rain is mainly light, since much of the moisture is being evaporated into a dry airmass near the surface.
The heaviest rain was just north of Carrollton in Pickens County.
My hope is that the precipitation will clear the Tuscaloosa area before the 2 p.m. kickoff for A-Day. Auburn’s A-Day could experience a brief shower. Keep the rain gear handy at both venues, b ut hopefully you won’t need it, or at least for very long.
The sun was actually peeking out over Southwest Alabama behind the precipitation area.
Temperatures were climbing through the lower 60s, except in the precipitation areas, where 50s were still being reported.
